Born in Brussels on 19 August 1898, Louis Goegebeur was an independent Belgian painter whose career flourished primarily between the 1930s and 1950s. Working across the interwar and post-war periods, he supported himself through the sale of his paintings.
Goegebeur's repertoire centred on traditional landscapes, domestic interiors and vivid floral still lifes. He frequently painted on cardboard panels and also worked in mixed media and watercolour on paper. His works are typically signed in a distinctive cursive hand at a lower corner.
Goegebeur died in Anderlecht on 26 August 1979.
