A highly decorative Italian studio piece of substantial ovoid form, comprising a warm tan leather-wrapped vessel set with a large glazed ceramic panel to the front. The panel is painted in a bold mid-century modernist style strongly reminiscent of the celebrated Florentine ceramicist Marcello Fantoni, depicting an arrangement of vessels in rich jewel tones of cobalt blue, teal, olive green, and gold against a pink-washed ground, with characteristic sgraffito white line detailing. The inside of this vase is a beautiful teal colour - very much the style of Marcello Fantoni but unsigned. 16cm H and 16cm at the widest mid point
